How AI "Sees"

Breaking down images into the universal language: Mathematics.

Teacher's Brief: The Pixel Grid

To a computer, an image isn't a "picture"—it's a spreadsheet. Each cell is a **pixel**, and the number inside represents brightness. 0 is black, 255 is white.

Adding Color: The RGB Channels

AI simplifies millions of colors into three "sheets": **Red, Green, and Blue**. A color photo is just three spreadsheets stacked together!

RED
GREEN
BLUE

The Formula:

Pixel(x,y) = [R] + [G] + [B]

If the Red sheet says 255 and others say 0, the AI sees pure Red. If all sheets have high numbers, it sees bright, vibrant colors or White!

How AI Detects Edges (The Kernel)

AI uses a "Filter" (a small 3x3 grid) to scan the image. It does quick multiplication. High results indicate it found a feature!
